Theme

The theme for this curricular unit is an exploration of the most common spices and ingredients of Indian Cuisine.

Objectives

At the end of this curricular unit, students will be able to:

- Identify the common ingredients of Indian Cuisine.

- Understand the factors that led these ingredients to become so common.

- Give examples of ways that these ingredients are used in meals.

- Use the internet to retrieve information

- Use computer presentation software to create a slide-based presentation.

Grade Level This curricular unit is designed to be used with elementary grade children.
Modifications This curricular unit may be modified by removing or adding detailed material to meet the grade level and capabilities of the students. It is also designed to be modified to fit a fluctuating schedule as noted below in the timeline section.
Assumptions This curricular unit assumes that students have basic computer skills, opening, saving, and closing documents and applications as well as basic operating system navigation skills.
Timeline This curricular unit is designed to be completed in one week of classes, where the class periods include three fifty-minute periods and one eighty-minute period. The "Long Lesson" is designed to fit that eighty-minute period and may occur at any point during the week.
